Northern Italian Landscape
Original Oil on Linen

Gottfried Arnegger was born ca. 1900 (different sources refer to either 1901 or 1905) in Vienna. He was a son of the
well known landscape painter Alois Arnegger (1879-1967). Gottfried was his father's pupil and always accompanied the latter on his trips to South Tyrol, Switzerland, and Italy, where both artists painted picturesque views of the lakes Garda, Lago di
Maggiore, and Como, as well as the coastal views of Naples, San Remo, and Capri... where the mountains come down to the shore.
.
Arnegger's mastery of the romantic and mesmerizing Italian villa along the lake district in Italy is reflective of his
colorful and lively style. The colors are painted with vibrant brushstrokes showing tonal values throughout the landscape and the true natural beauty of the Italian Lake District coastal landscapes with all its natural appeal executed in great
detail.

Painting size: 23.5 x 19.75 in (60 x 50 cm); original frame included.
