Joe Pearce
Joe Pearce, a mid-western contemporary artist, enjoys painting rich tapestries
of form and color... with a passion.
His work reflects a subtle combination of straightforward, traditional and representational painting refreshingly reflective and
very well thought out - properly executed modern Expressionist values in an older classic style expressing a new way to see; with fresh ideas.
Captured from the styles of Cézanne to Van Gogh to Tarkay, Joe Pearce enjoys incorporating characteristics found in Impressionist
& Expressionist paintings with keen visible brush strokes to open composition so as to achieve diversity through the use of soft and hard edges, thick and thin paint, complementary colors, contrasts, glazing and dry brushing.
Torn between what Impressionists argued, that people do not see objects but only the light which they reflect, Joe further evolves
Expressionistic values where the expression of inner experience seeks to depict less objective reality in preference to expressing the subjective emotions and responses that objects and events arouse in them. This
philosophy embraced by many artists has become uniquely characteristic of much Contemporary, Expressionist, and Postmodern art.

Some of Joe Pearce's latest artwork:

"These four 10 inch canvases comprise one expressionistic painting, 'Four Squares of Emotion'. I closed my eyes many times
while completing it. I mostly used Sennelier paints, the same brand that Cézanne, Picasso, and others used." |
